Prospect Spotlight: Brad Lackey (2020)
An up-and-coming prospect in Washington’s 2020 class, Brad Lackey is positioning himself to be one of the cornerstones of a Union program that’s been one of Washington’s best in recent history.
The 5-foot-10 prospect is a quintessential team-first point guard, and says his main objective each night is to do whatever he can to help his team win.
“I love to win and I love to do whatever I can to help my team win, whether that’s hitting an open shot or finding an open teammate,” said Lackey. “I think I can see the floor really well, I can get the ball to open shooters.”
He played up with the Titans JV this past winter, and this summer he hopes to start his process with the program’s varsity.
“It was my first year getting used to high school ball, we went 19-1 and played a tough schedule. I was the sixth-man on the steam, and I started about half of the games,” said Lackey.
The Titans will play two varsity teams this June in summer camps. Lackey hopes to play well enough to help him possibly earn a spot with the varsity next season as a sophomore.
“Our summer ball is starting soon, and my coach says I might play with a little bit of the varsity one and varsity two this summer. And come November, we’ll see, hopefully I’m on varsity and playing some minutes,” said Lackey.
In July he’ll be back with his grassroots squad, Iron Elite Sixers.
“That organization is really good, it feels like a family. They’ve welcomed me in, this is my first year playing with them, and it’s been a really great experience,” said Lackey.
“In terms of recruiting, I just want to put my name out there and get recognized. Other goals are I just want to put on a little more weight to get ready for varsity. And then just improving on all the little things, the things I can control.”
