Each prospect has a different type of story of how they went from undiscovered to a well-known prospect and we are now seeing the story unfold for Jordan Love. He had a very good Junior Season at his high school averaging 16 Points and 4.6 Rebounds a game for a squad that went 25-8 overall. During the spring evaluation periods he has been playing at a very high level as well, receiving interest from colleges on the D1 level and impressing the media members that go to see him play. This weekend I got a chance to get a close look at Jordan against some good competition at The Big Shots Team Felton tournaments and I was very impressed.
What makes him special?
He’s the type of wing that colleges love these days, he has a long wingspan mixed with nice height and an outstanding ability to score the ball at a high rate. He’s an outstanding shooter from deep and midrange as well as having nice athleticism that he uses to finish plays when he attacks the basket. His ball handling skills have improved to the point that he is very comfortable handling the ball under pressure even when he is guarded by smaller opponents. Another attribute that you have to love about this young man is his coachability and how good of a teammate he is. He doesn’t mind if his coach gets on him about not playing hard or missing a defensive assignment, instead of getting upset he corrects his mistake. We discussed how good of a scorer he is however he is not a selfish player, he is a willing passer and looks to make plays for teammates. Schools at the D1 level should be offering him without a doubt, he has the tools to be a very special player and has not even come close to reaching his ceiling of potential.
