Ohio 15U Grassroots Team Rankings: Spring Edition
As far as grassroots basketball goes, the spring is over.
Parents no longer have to spend their entire weekends on the road to hang out inside sweaty gyms. Players will now get time to show off some added skills to their high school programs. College scouts will wait until July to evaluate players again.
For us, we won’t be able to check out AAU teams until July also, something we take much joy in doing.
For the time being, we’ll have the following Prep Hoops Ohio Grassroots Team Rankings to fall back on.
These rankings are based more on teams than the individual prospects. Because, simply put, they’re team rankings.
The 15U Ohio teams are a group we’ve become awfully familiar with over these past two months. We’ve spent hour after hour sideline at some of these games, in order to provide the most comprehensive database of Ohio 2020 talent now, and throughout these kids’ high school careers. Enjoy! Also, let us know where you disagree in the Comment section.

The top five teams in the 15U Grassroots Team Rankings can switch on a weekly basis in July. Throughout the spring, these teams have only been separated by small margins.
More speicially, All Ohio Red has beaten C2K Elite (in the championship at the Super 16), OBC (during bracket play at the Run n Slam), and the Rebels (during bracket play at the Nike Cup), by the slimmest of margins. Regardless, Red holds the #1 spot, because they’re winning those games.
A few of these young, 2020-manned teams have had difficulties keeping their rosters consistent thus far. Specifically, the Pumas Elite and the Rebels, have had very few weekends at full strength, especially recently. Even so, the Pumas went 2-1 last weekend in Chicago without Grant Whisman and Harley Day, with the only loss coming in the final minutes against the Iowa Barnstormers. As far as the Rebels, they roared out of the gates in April, but have posted some less impressive weekend finishes lately.
A lot of these inconsistences are because some of these teams — and this applies to across the entire state, not just the top five or ten teams — have been essentially passing players back and forth. The constant change in rosters makes it difficult to determine who is who. With these being team rankings, we’re rewarding some level of consistency between 6-10 here.
Despite the occasional absence (which happens to every team), All Ohio Elite, VCC-NOVA (Alleyne), Mid Ohio Pumas Black, and All Ohio Gold, have kept their same teams in tact for two entire months. It’s resulted the in some successful weekends, including a Nike Cup 1st place finish for All Ohio Elite, when they defeated Red in the title game.
So, the bottom line with these 15U Rankings: while we firmly believe in this list, we also, just as firmly, believe July will shake things up.
