NTBA Regional Tournament Recap
The 8th grade division of the Fayetteville, NC NTBA tournament this weekend was very impressive, the teams in the division competed hard with each and other and several youngsters stood out. In the end the Durham Hurricanes would take home the hardware as Tourney Champs but it would be easy, they had to defeat the Scotland County Hornets in a game that was a back and forth brawl. Over the next two days we will introduce you to some of the youngsters that stood out from all of the teams that played in the 8th grade division.
South Wake Elite 2021 Guard Thomas Harrison: Very smooth game, he was one of the smaller players on the court but was also one of the most talented players. He didn’t allow himself to be sped up by any defense that was thrown at him, can knock down shots from deep, and has a smooth shooting stroke.
Team Nitro 2021 Guard Tobin Michael Harris: Displayed a sweet shooting stroke from deep, was very efficient especially in the catch and shoot situations. In the game I got to see he finished with 18 points and knocked down 6 treys, nice IQ for the game at a young age.
Team Nitro 2021 Wing Charles Stanley: Has a knack for scoring the ball, was one of the team’s leading scorers throughout the event. Can shoot it well from midrange but doesn’t settle just for jump shots, he got to the basket very often and forced the defense to either foul or make defensive errors.
Scotland Hornets 2021 F/C Kyrese Stewart: One of the players with the highest motors at the tournament, he was constantly rebounding the ball, taking charges, diving for balls etc. The extra effort and possessions that he provided for his team helped them to advance to the Tournament Championship.
Team Nitro 2021 Forward Arun Kirk: Has a very nice feel for the game and such a young age, is a fundamentally sound player that can score the ball in various ways. Although he was one of the taller players on the team he was also one of the more versatile players in the 8thh grade tournament bracket.
