Meet The Player : Joel Jones
Joel Jones made his college decision official on Thursday afternoon as he signed with Montreat College, to continue his basketball career and academics. Jones is a player that has gotten better and better each time I got to see him play over the years, he has a long wingspan as well as athleticism. His potential to be a good player is very evident and it will be interesting to see him develop and reach his potential over the next few years. Last night we got a chance to talk to Joel about this past season, his recruitment and what he’s looking forward to the most about getting to Montreat.
Q: How did this past season go for you guys in your opinion?
Joel: It didn’t go how I thought it would go record wise due to injuries again and grades restricting players from playing but it was definitely a learning experience for all of us but I’m glad the younger guys got a chance to play in front of a couple coaches.
Q: What was the deciding factor for you signing with Montreat?
Joel: It really came down to how close the players was with each other. When I took a visit, the players did just about everything together and made me feel like I belong on and off the court.
What do you feel you bring to a college team?
Joel: I think I’m going to bring some intensity going into the practices knowing I’m the freshman and I have to work my way to the top of the food chain and hopefully it translates to the games.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most about college?
Joel: I look forward to making new connections through basketball that’s going to benefit me further into the future and also the traveling.
Q: Any game day rituals?
Joel: Before every game I just pray about 5-7 times and I listen to J. Cole lol
Q: Favorite NBA Player & Team?
Joel: My favorite player is KD & I don’t have a favorite team, but I do play with the TWolves on 2k.
Q: Favorite sneaker to play in?
Joel: My favorite shoe is low top Kobe 9s.
