Meet The Player: Jeremiah Pope
Q: What do you feel you bring to whatever team you’re playing on whether its high school, AAU or Camp style of play? As well as possibly on the next level?
Jeremiah: I feel like I can bring scoring, whenever the coach needs a quick bucket I feel like they can go to me. Also I feel like I bring a lot of energy and leadership, just a winning attitude.
Q: Position wise what do you feel you will be on the next level?
Jeremiah: I would say combo, I’m more comfortable at the two, spotting up at the wing and knocking down shots but at the same time I can bring it up the court and handle the ball so I would say combo.
Q: How was the experience at Clinton HS?
Jeremiah: As the years went on things got better for me as well as the team overall. I feel like the senior year was my best year with a lot of milestones I was able to reach, a lot of things I was able to accomplish so I feel like my years at Clinton HS were good. Just looking forward now to going on to the next level.
Q: How’s your recruitment going for you?
Jeremiah: I’ve been hearing a little bit from Wofford, a lot from Fayetteville State, Winston Salem State. A lot of community colleges as of recently: Brunswick, Fayetteville Tech, Pitt Community College, so a lot of D2 and a few community colleges.
Q: What’s the deciding factor for you when picking a school?
Jeremiah: Just somewhere I would feel comfortable, I feel like I can be a good asset to whatever team I’m on, somewhere that’s close to home so that my family can travel to see me play.
Q: Favorite NBA Player & Team?
Jeremiah: I actually don’t have a favorite team, I’ve been called a bandwagon fan a few times, but I would say my favorite player is Russel Westbrook, I like his energy, his game, and he plays hard from the first quarter until the end of the game.
Q: Any thing you do on game day to prepare yourself mentally and physically?
Jeremiah: Just try to focus, I also pray before every game, I have to give honor to God because that’s where all my talents are coming from. Any offer or any interest it’s all coming from God because he blessed me with the talent that I do have so just try and stay focused, a little music and a prayer before every game.
