We Got Next: Durham Hurricanes (2021)
The Durham Hurricanes organization is a pretty well-known organization in the state of North Carolina when it comes to AAU basketball. They have sent quite a few players to college by playing in really good tournaments and are normally a team that is competing deep into tournament bracket play. Well just two weekends ago I got the chance to see the 2021 Durham Hurricanes squad that won the Fayetteville, NC NTBA tournament for the 8th grade division. This team is one to keep a close eye on without a doubt, they have a nice amount of talent, good coaching and most importantly outstanding team chemistry. In their championship game against a very talented Scotland County Hornets squad you could see all the talent as well as how disciplined of a team they were. Let’s take a look at their roster and some of the standout players that we saw, you can catch this team at not only NTBA events but also around the state at various tournaments.
Head Coach: Antwan Robinson
Darius Faulk: Class of 2021 player that will be headed to Smithfield Selma HS next season, already 6’2 with a nice skillset and potential.
Aaron Hall: This young man has a chance to be special, he was absolutely automatic from the high point and scored the ball at a very high rate shooting a nice percentage. He’s already 6’4 in the 8th grade so it’s a strong possibility that we could see him reach the 6’7-6’8.
Nashwan Newsome will attend Northern Durham High, he’s a 5’11 wing player for the squad, scored very well.
Chris Farrar: The heart of the team, at only 5’6 many people overlook him but he plays the game with a chip on his shoulder, Very nice mixture of speed and strength in his game.
Tylil Alston: At 6’1 he was one of the taller players on the team, still raw but has very nice potential. Can finish with both hands, nice athleticism and plays strong.
