Recruiting Report: Tyler Maye (2017)
It’s been a long time coming for this young man but it’s truly fun to watch his hard work pay off with schools beginning to recognize his talent level and what he can bring to the table. Over the past few months his recruitment has heated up quite a bit, one example of this was the State playoff game against Saint Paul’s HS. School such as: University Of Tennessee, Cincinnati, Florida Gulf Coast, VCU, and Charlotte were all in the building to check him out. Even though his team came up short many of the schools in attendance left impressed with his ability to score the ball and how much effort he gave despite playing major minutes.
New Offers & Interest
Just as recently as last week Nebraska and ECU offered him within hours of each, Nebraska was a program that we had been hearing had been showing interest for a while and ECU was a program that many including myself were shocked that they hadn’t already offered. With ECU being right up the road from Farmville Central it would make sense for them to try and jump on board earlier, however even though it took them longer to offer you still have to think the Pirates may be an option for Maye. ACC schools have not offered yet but they are certainly inquiring about him, Clemson and UVA both have asked about Tyler in the past week and seem very interested. He’s already taken some unofficial visits to Charlotte and Western Carolina so it will be interesting to see where he selects for his five official visits before he makes his decision. One thing you have to love about Tyler is his attitude and demeanor throughout all of this, he has remained humble on and off the court and continues to work on his game and perfect his craft. Many times youngsters allow the pressure of recruitment and making a decision to cause them to stress but Tyler is taking it all in stride and whatever program gets him will be picking up not only a great player but great person as well.
