Recruiting Report: Tyler Beard (2020)
Whitney Young 2020 point guard Tyler Beard stands at 6’0” with a strong frame. He is at his best attacking the hoop. Beard likes to push it in transition and be aggressive getting to the cup. Powerful when he has the ball in his hands going downhill. Also moves well laterally on the defensive end of the floor. Has a chance to be one of the better two way guards in his class.
Beard got a great experience to start his career off with Whitney Young taking home the 4A state crown!
“It was excellent. We won a state championship and I am just happy about that. It was a great experience being down there and getting the experience. Getting the feel for the game down there in Peoria.”
How does he feel he played this year?
“I played ok. I could have done better. I wasn’t experienced a lot in CPS basketball. I was just trying to get used to it.”
Beard told us what he feels the strengths are in his game right now.
“Slashing and being the best defender on the team.”
The 2020 is playing with Meanstreets 15U this spring. What is he looking forward to about the circuit?
“Getting better and getting ready for next high school basketball season. Hanging with my teammates and playing good basketball.”
Any areas of his game he is focusing on developing this spring and summer heading into next high school season?
“I am trying to improve in shooting at every level like three point and mid-range. Also trying to get better with my dribbling.”
Virginia and Nebraska are a couple of schools that have shown very early preliminary interest Beard tells us.
