Recruiting Report: Caleb Frederking (2018)
Okawville 2018 shooting guard Caleb Frederking played a lot in his brother Noah’s (Evansville commit) shadow this past season, but he is a quality prospect in his own right. He was a huge part of helping his team get to the state championship game this year. The 6’2” two guard has a quick release on a plus jump shot. Dead eye shooter that can get really hot from deep. Loves to stop and pop from mid-range. Moves well without the ball and has an effortless feel to his game. Crisp movements. Most likely he will be a high level D3/NAIA player.
Frederking spoke about his junior year at Okawville.
“We played a lot of bigger schools compared to us so we were prepared in the playoffs. I feel I progressed throughout the year. I started off a little slow. I had some rough patches at the beginning, but finished the year strong.”
They reached the 1A state championship game and Frederking wants to get back!
“It was a great experience. I definitely want to get back next year. It gives us a lot of motivation. A lot of the kids had to play baseball, but I was in the gym the next day. Everybody wants to be really good next year.”
He spoke about how it was for him individually this year.
“Where to pick my spots. I had two scorers ahead of me with Noah (Frederking) and Shane (Ganz) so I was more of a passer this year and role player. At the beginning of the year I probably took to many bad shots. I improved in playing smarter.”
What does he feel the strength of his game is at this stage?
“Right now my pull up shot. I like to get down in triple threat and pulling up for a three.”
Frederking will once again run with the Illinois Bears on the grassroots circuit.
“I am looking forward to being with all the guys again. Getting exposure and getting better.”
Very early in the recruiting process for Frederking.
“I got an email from University of Chicago recently. At the beginning of the high school season I got a couple letters from Sioux Falls.”
