Recruiting Report: Bryant Brown (2019)
Waukegan sophomore Bryant Brown is extremely intriguing at 6’5” with his length, athleticism, and emerging skill. The 2019 prospect is playing up on the 17U level with the Illinois Wolves and definitely held his own when we have seen him early in the spring. Solid defensive player with his length and toughness. Contests shots and has the defensive versatility to guard on both the perimeter and inside. Brown showed us he could shoot it a little too which we haven’t seen much out of the uber athlete. Drilled some threes off the catch. Potential high-major prospect.
Brown chatted with PHI about his sophomore campaign for a young squad at Waukegan.
“I think it was a great year. We had three underclassmen in the starting lineup. We still had a great record. We made a playoff run. Lost in the sectional final. I think I had a pretty good season. I focused on a lot of the things I tried to focus on in the previous off season like rebounding and defense. Help side defense and things like that I feel liked help us win a lot of games.”
What areas does he feel he improved the most?
“I am working on my shooting. Help side defense is a strength. I can slash. I have to work on ball handling and shooting off the dribble.”
Brown will be with the Illinois Wolves 17U this spring. He is looking forward to competing against guys a year older and stronger.
“I am playing up a year. I hope it brings toughness playing against guys a year older than me. Bring that back to my high school season and I will be used to playing against older players.”
One Big 10 program has shown early interest.
“Northwestern came to one of my games during the high school season.”
What kind of feedback have the Wildcats given him?
“They said they like my game and to keep playing hard.”
Brown is one of the top tier prospects in the state’s 2019 class.
