Recruiting Report: Barlow Alleruzzo (2019)
Sandburg 2018 power forward Barlow Alleruzzo is one of the more intriguing post prospects in the junior class. Alleruzzo is a 6’8” power forward that is a face up four man. Mostly likes to play out on the perimeter. He can shoot it well from three, but sometimes falls in love with it. He has great length and a projectable body. Would like to see him bang a little more inside and display development in his post-game. If he can show that this spring he will have a handful of D1 offers by the end of the month with his skill level and projectability. Flashes with a couple moves off the bounce using his long strides. Runs the floor with ease for his size. Can rebound both in and out of area with quickness.
How was his junior season at Sandburg?
“It started off pretty good. We went 9-2 at the beginning and then we kind of fell apart. Everybody kind of went in different directions. In the end I still love my team and thought we played hard.”
He spoke his play individually.
“I played pretty well. I thought I could have played a lot better, but for what I had and the opportunities I had I thought I took full advantage of it.”
Where did he see the most growth in his game this past season?
“Outside on the perimeter. My freshman and sophomore year I was more of an interior player. Now I have been able to adapt my game and show I can do everything on the floor.”
He is looking forward to playing with the Illinois Stars this spring.
“I am really excited to play with a special group of guys with JJ (Flores), Paul (O’Leary), Jeremiah (Hernandez), and Jalen (Hughes). We can go to war with anyone in the country.”
Alleruzzo tells us that he is hearing from Purdue, Creighton, Tulsa, Wisconsin Green Bay, Loyola, UTEP, and Kent State.
“They are going to come out and watch me play in DC on the Powerade Circuit. No offers yet, but the one closest to offering is probably SIU.”
What does he like about the Salukis?
“They let you play. They have this thing called hybrid that fits my game. It is a four that can do everything on the floor. That is the role I see myself playing.”
Wisconsin Green Bay is also showing him significant interest.
“They play really fast and get up and down the floor which is how I like to play.”
