Five Points
- The Panthers play four games this weekend: vs Albany City Rocks tonight, Cal Supreme Elite and Mac Irvin Fire tomorrow, and against the Family Sunday. I don’t believe Cal Supreme has played in a big event yet but Mac Irvin Fire had a nice semi-final run in the NY2LA Swish N Dish and The Family has won a couple smaller events already.
- Howard Pulley is playing for the second weekend this month. They were in Omaha for an All Iowa Attack event and they went 4-0. They beat three Nebraska teams including the two best teams in the state so you can call Howard Pulley the Nebraska state champs. They also beat one of the best in Iowa
- The seniors. I believe you will see Hunter at least this spring. As far as Pickford goes he just visited Tulane and Northern Iowa and the thought was that he was going to pick his school early next week. Does he play this weekend? Not sure. He didn’t play in the first event but Hunter did.
- The youth! In Roddy, Brown, and Nnaji the Panthers have three of the top five or six sophomores in the state playing up on their top squad. Brown is coming off an excellent slashing year putting up good numbers for the Raptors. Roddy was a double-double machine and gave Breck a Jordan Murphy like night regularly. Nnaji has the most potential of all of them because of his size and agility and he started to play very well for Hopkins at the end of the year. He didn’t have the numbers the others did but the potential is there.
- The Stars. Tre Jones is a star. This is a five star kid who should be flying up the rankings. I would not be surprised if he is a top ten kid by somebody by the end of the summer. I think he’s that good. Oturu and Kalscheur are also experienced Pulley players. Oturu should have a monster year with Gabe being the shooter getting double digits. I expect Thomas to score a lot active off ball baskets, Goodnews could be the surprise of the spring, and Larson is a great back-up PG. I wouldn’t be surprised if he played with Tre often.
