Prospect Spotlight: Larry Franklin (2020)
A 5-foot-11 shooting guard from Central Lafourche, Larry Franklin could be an impact player with the Trojans sooner rather than later.
The 2020 prospect was forced to sit out his freshman season after transferring from South Lafourche, but insists that he worked all winter to improve his game, and will be ready to make a big splash as a sophomore.
Recently during a phone interview, Franklin defined his playing to PHLA.
“I consider myself a sharpshooter, I like to play like Trae Young from Oklahoma,” said Franklin. “I need to work on my ball-handling, and everyone likes to focus on me since I’m a sharpshooter so I get my teammates open a lot.”
This past winter, though he couldn’t play with his new school, Franklin says he was in the gym nearly every day working on his game.
“I just put a lot of work in, putting a lot of shots up everyday,” he said. “I added more range to my shot, that was my main thing.”
Next season, he’ll start with the JV, and hopes to be with the varsity by season’s end.
“My coach told me I’d be playing shooting guard with the JV, and I might get to play some varsity,” said Franklin.
In the meantime, he’s looking to join an area grassroots program for some 15U ball, and will be continuing to work on his game everyday until he finds one.
“I’m hoping to find another team around this area, I was going to play with the Bayou Titans but not anymore,” said Franklin.
“I’m going to be going to open gyms and working on my handles a lot. I feel like I have my shot down pat, so my handles really are the next thing I’m focused on.”
