Prospect Spotlight: Dan Florey (2020)
St. Ignatius 2020 Dan Florey is a guard with significant potential. At 6’3” he has quality size and length for the position. Fundamentally sound player. Knows how to use shot fakes and hesitation to keep the defense off balance and give himself room to get his shot off. Clean looking three point stroke. Improved lateral mobility defensively. Florey is definitely one to watch in the 2020 class with his skilled perimeter game.
Florey spoke about his first season of high school basketball as he was the star of the St. Ignatius sophomore team.
“I got a lot better moving without the ball and playing defense. I started to score 20 or 30 points a game toward the end of the season.”
How much will being able to dominate on the sophomore level help him moving forward when he will eventually take on a major role for the varsity team.
“I am hoping next year it is going to help me to get ready to start. I think we are going to have a really good chance to win the Catholic League next year.”
Where did he see the most improvement in his game this past season?
“My defense, my athleticism, and moving without the ball.”
He has a few areas he is focusing on improving this spring.
“Right now I am working on my strength and my ball handling every day.”
Florey is excited to be playing with Chicago Lockdown on the grassroots circuit.
“I am looking forward to getting a lot of exposure. We are going to be really good.”
