Prospect Spotlight: Cade Schnicker (2019)
Edwards County 2019 combo guard Cade Schnicker stands at 6’1” with a strong frame. The guard has a good feel for the game as he shows he can play both on and off the ball. Shoots it from the perimeter especially pulling up. Hits it consistently from mid-range and can stretch it out to three as well. Release looks a bit awkward as it is to the side of his head, but they go in. Makes a play every now and then in transition. Solid vision with creative feel passing it. Not the greatest athlete and looks slow laterally defensively although he plays hard on that end. The sophomore guard most likely will project out as a tough D3/NAIA player.
The sophomore stood out as a young prospect in his conference by making a major impact. We caught up with him to get a feel for how he felt the season went from an individual standpoint.
“It went pretty good. I led our conference in assists and was our second leading scorer.”
When his game is really rolling what does he feel his strengths are as a prospect?
“Passing for sure. I can throw pretty good passes. Don’t turn it over very many times. I can also make some threes.”
Schnicker was part of a solid core group for Edwards County that led them to one of their best seasons in a while.
“It was pretty good. We beat some good teams like Flora and Lawrenceville. We haven’t beat them in a really long time so that was a lot of improvement this year.”
The 2019 prospect will be running on the 16U circuit with the Illinois Bears this spring and summer.
