The NC class of 2019 is loaded with high level prospects as you already know, and with Tiquan Bunn returning back to NC after attending school in South Carolina the pool just got stronger. Just this past weekend I took a trip out to Erwin, NC to attend the SEBL event held by Dwight Miller, there was quite a bit of talent in the building but there were a few players that were very intriguing and Tiquan was one of them without a doubt.
What makes him special?
The first thing I noticed about him was his toughness and how much he loves to play the game, during their matchup with Team Wall-Dreamville, he landed awkwardly on his knee and was clearly in pain to the point that he couldn’t put any weight on his leg. He sat the remainder of that game but the very next game even though he was walking with a limp that was easy to recognize he still came out played. He also has the ability to play the PG, SG and even some SF with his versatility, he’s a solid ball handler that knows how to get to his spots but also a gifted scorer. Even though he didn’t have one of his best days shooting the ball from deep you can tell by his mechanics that he is a solid shooter. Defensively he does a solid job of keeping his man in front of him as well as communicating with his teammates, throughout the games I saw he applied pressure but was smart by not reaching and getting into foul trouble. Last but not least is his confidence, you can tell that he knows he can play this game and he has a certain swagger about him on the court, the combination of all these things definitely has me intrigued and colleges should be keeping a close eye on him.
