New Kid on The Block: Jah’leel Allen (2019)
Terry Sanford HS has had great success with their basketball program over the last few years and with the loss of Senior Telligence Johnson, there will be a spot on the wing that will need to be filled. Well just last weekend we came across a young man named Jah’leel Allen who is transferring in to Terry Sanford from Georgia and is playing with Team Wall-Dreamville this summer, we got a chance to talk with him about life on and off the court for him in North Carolina and looking forward to playing this year.
Q: So as we were talking earlier you said you’re new to North Carolina, how long have you been here?
Jah’leel: For about a month and half now, I was down in Georgia at Liberty County High School last year.
Q: What’s been different about being in North Carolina on and off the court?
Jah’leel: It’s a different type of atmosphere, especially on the court it’s a different type ball that’s played and off the court it’s a different type of lifestyle.
Q: So you told me earlier you will be going out to Terry Sanford HS next year with Malik Johnson out there did you know anything about the program or players?
Jah’leel: Yes sir I knew because last year I was here for the summer for a month and a half with my mom and I played a little bit of basketball with those guys so that’s how we connected.
Q: How’s the Team Wall experience been for you?
Jah’leel: It’s been pretty good, good competition.
Q: What do you feel like you bring to the table for your team?
Jah’leel: I feel like I bring excitement to the team, especially when we are down or I’m the bench just encouraging my teammates and bringing that intensity to the game.
Q: Who is your favorite player and team in college to watch?
Jah’leel: My family is from North Carolina so my favorite team to watch is UNC but my favorite player in college is Isaiah Briscoe, he’s got a real smooth game, he doesn’t rush anything at all, his game is just real smooth.
Q: favorite NBA Player?
Jah’leel: Paul George, they are playing right now so we are missing the game (laughs)
Q: Game day rituals or preparations? Anything you do to get your mind right?
Jah’leel: Yea, I watch a little bit of film , my grandmother passed away a few years ago so I give thanks to her before I come out into the game and that’s what I think about when I’m playing, it’s something that gives me a boost when I’m playing.
