Meet The Player: Talton Jones (2019)
We got a chance this weekend to catch up with Trinity Christian 2019 PG Talton Jones who is playing his with the Fayetteville Elite squad this spring and summer. Talton is a very talented player that is slowly but surely making his name known among the loaded class of talent in the state of North Carolina for the class of 2019. College Coaches at the D1 level should get very familiar with this young man as he is a special player and his stock will only continue to rise.
Q: So I have you seen play for a while and it seems like you approach the game trying to get everybody involved, as that how you approach each game?
Talton: Well, I just like to get my team involved in the game, then my attitude and aggressiveness kind of comes along with it.
Q: This was your first year at Trinity Christian, how did the season go in your opinion and how was the overall experience in private school?
Talton: Well public school was different because we didn’t play a lot of the top ranked teams, so when I came to Trinity they said that we were going to play some of the top ranked teams and ranked people so playing against them felt different. I think year we will be good, more organized and use to playing with each other.
Q: As the season went on you seemed to get more comfortable and more productive, what was it that helped you to get more adjusted?
Talton: Practice, I just had to get along with the coaches and the players, with Joey and Josh I had to get into a rhythm with them by practice and playing. Once we got a lot more reps then I got used to it.
Q: How does being under the radar in the 2019 Class motivate you? Or does it at all?
Talton: It makes me feel like I should grind more and play harder and I feel like I should be in the top ranked guards by next year, by the end of my junior year I feel like I should be up there.
Q: You’ve been playing with Fayetteville Elite for a while now, and I see Telligence Johnson is with you guys today, did that factor in to you guys winning games pretty easily ?
Talton: Yea, me and Telly have been playing together since about 8th or 9th grade, so we already have chemistry together. I know what he can do and he knows what I can do, so we just fit in well.
Q: I know Fayetteville State has offered so far, has there been any other schools that are showing interest?
Talton: Well, ODU has reached out to me but they haven’t said that they were going to offer me or anything like that. Basically just saying that they have seen me play before and that they are going to keep an eye on me during AAU and what not.
Q: Last question, every game day what is something that you have to do to get your mind right?
Talton: I got to YouTube and watch Bradley Beal play that just motivates me, I just want to be like him when I grow up.
