Meet The Player: Kris Monroe (2018)
We got the chance yesterday to chat with St. David’s & Team Wall 2018 Wing Kris Monroe whose phone has been ringing off the hook over the last day or so. He was already receiving a good amount of interest from programs before the Spring Live Period but now has turned that interest into offers with his stellar play and overall team performance. Kris is a player that we were introduced to a few years back thanks to The Hoops Column, he’s not only an outstanding player but also he’s an outstanding person.
Q: So you guys are off to a tremendous start at 16-0, how’s the experience with Team Wall been so far?
Kris: My experience had been great man! I love those guys. We are a very good team and I feel like we can compete with anyone in the country.
Q: What are some things you do pregame to get your mind right for game time? Before games I try not to listen to a lot of music. I like to just sit and listen to the whistles and show squeaks and stuff it just helps me relax. I also always squat down before tip and say my own prayer. I have to do it, it’s a must.
Q: Favorite NBA Player & Favorite team?
Kris: My favorite NBA player is John Wall of course lol. He’s playing out of his mind right now. I don’t really have a favorite team though
Q: How’s recruitment going for you?
My recruitment has really picked up since the live period I got offered by Boston College, Providence, and JMU today. Arizona state and Rhode Island also called.
Q: What do you feel you could bring to a college program on and off the court?
One thing I can bring to a college program is my scoring ability from the wing spot, I can really stretch the floor and be a match up nightmare. Also, off the court I work hard in the classroom especially being a student at St. David’s. I have a great personality and I can relate to people.
Q: Goals for this summer and going into next HS season?
My goals for the summer is to up my recruiting and to get invited to the USA Camp. For high school, I want to be a contender for Gatorade player of the year, I also want to be a McDonald’s All American, and bring a state championship to Raleigh
