Meet The Player: Keondre Fryar (2019)
These days we hear the term ‘‘High Motor’’ very often, it’s a term used for a player that brings a large amount of energy and intensity to their team while they are on the court or possibly on the bench. Many times these players get overlooked due to the fact that they may not score a lot of points or even pull down a lot of rebounds but the impact these players have on the game is bigger than the stat sheet. Last weekend we got to see Keondre Fryar of EE Smith HS and Team Wall-Dreamville play and he definitely fits into that category. He plays the game very hard and is an outstanding athlete, we spoke with him for a few moments about what he brings to the table for his teams and what he likes to do on game days.
Q: EE Smith HS has a rich tradition in sports, how do you guys felt you did this season?
Keondre: Last year we had a small team so we ran the floor a lot, this year I believe we will have some more size so I think that will help us rebounds better but overall we did good.
Q: What do you feel like you bring to your high school and AAU teams?
Keondre: Athleticism and I defend well so I bring things on both sides of the floor, I’m the hype man too, and I hype everybody up, just try and bring energy.
Q: You guys had a bit of adversity during the high school season losing players and what not, do you feel like that helped you all grow closer as a team?
Keondre: We knew each other for a long time so we all have been close and played together for a while.
Q: How long have you been playing with Team Wall?
Keondre: Since last year, it’s been a good experience.
Q: Who is your favorite NBA team & player?
Keondre: I like the Spurs, they are a smart team and an old school team, and favorite player is Kawahi Leonard I like the way he plays the game.
Q: Any pregame rituals or anything that you do to prepare yourself for the game?
Keondre: I have a ball that dribble with outside so I do that and then go to the gym and shoot , my uncle takes me through workouts, we just work on everything, Just trying to get better every day.
Q: In the future what do you feel you may be able to bring to a college program?
Keondre: Athleticism and defense I know that’s what colleges want and that’s what I’m good at.
