Meet The Player: Jamahri Harvey (2019)
Freedom Christian 2019 Guard Jamahri Harvey is a name you may not know at this point but is a player that you definitely get to know. He’s a 6’4 Combo guard with a very long wingspan that is beginning to come into his own, just recently at the Basketball Elite Fab 40 Camp he played well against some of the top players in the state, many that are older than him. Just recently he made his decision of who he would be running with this summer and spring, college coaches should definitely be on the lookout for him as he played with Upward Stars 16u and already is receiving offers and interest. Just recently we got the chance to ask him a few questions about this summer, the class of 2019 in NC and some of the things he does on game day.
Q: How did the season go for you guys in your opinion?
Jamahri: the season was well, but it didn’t start as planned because of issues our team had faced at the beginning of the season. We had to overcome a lot of obstacles and we didn’t win some games that we should have won. But I feel like my team and I fought through and still managed to make the playoffs.
Q: What was the deciding factor in you choosing to run with Upward Stars?
Jamahri: The deciding factor for me was that my coach and the staff of upward stars really showed a lot of interest in me, and that made me feel like they wanted me to play for them. I want to play for a coach who wants me to play for him as much as I want to play for him.
Q: NC Class of 2019 is loaded with talent, being one of the players who are slept on in the class does that motivate you?
Jamahri: Yes. The only thing I can do is let that bring me down or let it be fuel to the fire. So I’m going to work hard until I’m no longer slept on. I’ve played against majority of the top players in my class and I know I can play with them, and just as good as the top players.
Q: Any game day rituals?
Jamahri: Before every game I pray by myself, and I put my headphones in and listen to my game day playlist so I can be focused. I don’t know if that’s really a ritual but that’s what I do.
Q: Favorite NBA Player & Team?
Jamahri: Favorite NBA player is Kyrie Irving, and my favorite team is Cleveland Cavaliers
