What we learned from the First Live Period
As well all known one of the most exciting times of the year for high school basketball player is the Spring and Summer live periods in April and July. Just this past weekend college from all over the coached stopped in to evaluate and even offer scholarships with players that they were impressed with, below are some players and teams that stood out over the weekend around the country. Also we had some unsigned seniors to make college decisions for next year which is always exciting as well, let’s take a look at some notes and news from the weekend.
· It seems as though each week we hear some news about 2019 Guard Josh Nickelberry and this weekend was no different as he came into the Adidas 17u Gauntlet getting buckets and averaging 21.7 over the weekend. He would also add offers from Auburn, Nebraska and UCONN with UNC and UK attending his games as well to see him and his teammates.
· WBC 15U reached the Tournament Championship game at Big Shots- Myrtle Beach, although they came up short they showed once again they are forced to be reckoned with and are a young talented group.
· Team Wall won its 3rd Tournament Championship in VA, following the tournament, multiple players from the team have picked up offers and interest from schools such as: James Madison, Norfolk State, Hampton University, NC State, Providence, Boston College and more.
· Juice All-Stars 15U squad finished their first weekend of play in Dallas with a record of 4-0, this is another young group to keep a close eye on in the summer as they are filled with talented youngsters
· Northampton County HS Wing JJ Miles committed to Chipola College (JC) in Florida, Miles was one of the most sought after Unsigned Seniors in the region.
· Team Felton 2019 Wing Joey Baker had a very impressive showing at the first UA stop in NYC, showing the full package of offensive skills he now has Kansas University showing interest.
· Upward Stars 2019 Squad got off to a very impressive start as well with 2019 Guards Jamahri Harvey & Talton Jones putting together impressive performances.
· Nash Central Guard Montre Cash made his college decision to attend Averett University in Virginia.
· CB Hoops 15U squad advanced to the Championship game down in Spartanburg, SC this weekend, although they came up short they are still a young team that college will be watching closely over the next few years.
· Legacy Charter & Garner Road F/C James Moore has officially signed with Cape Fear CC.
· Team Felton 2018 F/C Manny Bates had an impressive weekend in NYC, multiple D1 programs showing increased interest.
