Intro: Patrick Ready (2020)
Class of 2020 big man Patrick Ready made us take notice of him during the high school season playing on Belleville Althoff’s JV team. The 6’6” four man has a well-built upper body along with good length. Strong hands and soft touch around the hoop. Outstanding area rebounder that gobbles them up with his long arms. Not an overly explosive vertical athlete at this stage he can block shots on occasion. Post to track for D1 schools.
Ready went into how his freshman season went at Belleville Althoff.
“It went good. We got a lot of wins and I was scoring a lot of points. I really wanted to play varsity, but it was good to play JV.”
With a loaded varsity squad that before the injury to Jordan Goodwin had a legit shot at a state title Ready wasn’t able to play much on varsity, but he feels that being the man along with learning from those guys every day in practice will be a big benefit for him long term.
“It is going to help prepare me a lot. Playing hard every single second.”
Ready is an old school big man that knows where his strengths are.
“I normally just play in the post. A dog in the post. I have a mid-range jumps shot.”
He is playing with Brad Beal Elite 15U on the grassroots circuit. What is he looking forward to about that experience this spring and summer.
“Getting a lot of wins and hopefully making it to Peach Jam.”
