Grassroots Team Preview: Kansas Pray N Play 17U
Kansas Pray N Play showed over the weekend the are capable of playing with anybody as the squad won the Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff in Oklahoma City.
Director Steve Young says the squad has all the components to be a successful team this spring and summer with good bigs, two solid point guards and good wings and role players. Several players on Pray N Play currently hold Division I offers or are hearing from D1 programs.
Mason Alexander, 6’0, PG, 2018, McPherson
A state champion this past season at McPherson, Alexander is a creative ball handler and passer who is a knock down 3-point shooter as well. He is a true point guard capable of running an offense, setting up teammates, but also able to knock down open shots and create his own offense when needed.
Devin Davis, 6’2, SG, 2018, Wichita Heights
Davis didn’t make the trip to Oklahoma City with the team, but he is a knock down shooter with the ability to light up the scoreboard. He played well in Topeka in the 5A state tournament as he helped Wichita Heights advance to the semifinals.
Hadge Diallo, 6’7, F/C, 2018, Sunrise
Long, athletic rim-protector type that runs the floor well and battles in the paint and challenges shots well.
Tyree Florence-Patten, 6’3, G/F, 2018, Highland Park
Energy guy that comes in off the bench for Pray N Play and executes his role well.
Mike Johnson, 6’0, PG, 2018, Sunrise
One of the better point guards in Kansas this past season, Johnson is drawing Division I interest. He is a creative ball handler and is capable of scoring buckets in bunches.
Andre Luiz, 6’9, F/C, 2018, Sunrise
Strong, athletic kid with a terrific basketball frame. He still has a ways to go at the offensive end, but is an explosive athlete and finishes with authoritative slams in the paint. He is an elite level defensive player and rebounder and has a lot of potential due to his size and athleticism.
Bryant Macoby, 6’5, 2018, Goddard
A skilled wing player with good size and a big frame, Macoby has a solid all-around skill set with the ability to shoot the ball from deep, handle the ball, rebound and mix it up in the paint a little. He is a terrific 3-point shooter but is also able to create for himself off the bounce.
Marko Rajonovic, 6’6, 2018, Sunrise
One of the best shooters in the satte, Rajonovic is a smooth wing with the ability to light up the scoreboard from distance. He has size, a big frame and the ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the basket. A smart player with a high basketball IQ, Rajonovic is a terrific passer who looks to make the extra pass. He is likely to find a home at the Division I level in the future.
Larry White, 6’4, 2018, Highland Park
Larry White is a high energy player who bring size and a relentless attitude to the court. He is a terrific rebounder and defender and seems to always come up with a big play when needed.
Will White, 6’3, 2018, Highland Park
Another high energy player who does a little bit of everything to help his team win. He is a hard-nosed player who competes at the defensive end and seemingly just makes plays with his effort level.
