Capital Hoop Fest Scouting: 2018 Part 1
WASHINGTON, DC — The Elevate Hoops Capital Hoop Fest showcased some of the best teams from the greater Baltimore/Washington D.C. region at Catholic University on last weekend for a weekend of competition and exposure. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part one of our 2018 scouting report!
G BRENDAN ADAMS | TEAM MELO EYBL
Brendan Adams was one of the most dynamic scorers at this event, and he did it from all 3 levels. Efficient off the dribble. Finished effectively through contact. Gave good effort on defense, but is still a work in progress on that end.
G MATT BALANC | MID-ATLANTIC SELECT
Matthew Balanc is a high flying guard with a wiry frame and deceptive strength. Balanc has a very explosive first step, and can easily elevate and hit contested shots. One of the most dynamic players we saw this weekend.
G DEVON BAKER | OHIO VILLAGE
Devon Baker is a strong, broad-shouldered guard who defends and attacks the rim. Baker facilitates the offense, and can also break down his defender and score. Baker has good size at 6’2, and can defend the 1 or 2.
F TREY BARBER | FAIRFAX STARS
Trey Barber is a 6’6” forward with a high motor. Barber excels defensively, where he exhibits solid instincts and impeccable timing when contesting shots. Barber is still improving offensively, but has solid fundamentals and a nice touch.
G COLTER CARTON | FAIRFAX STARS
Colter Carton is a sharpshooting guard who can also handle the ball and create for others. Carton works well with screens, and doesn’t need much time to get his shot off when his feet are set.
G JOSH CORNISH | TEAM MELO RED
Josh Cornish is a long & lanky scoring guard with good size at 6’3. Cornish can absolutely fill it up from deep, but also has a nice mid-range game as well. Cornish is also a smart defender who isn’t afraid to get on the boards.
