Recruiting Report: Kane Kramer (2017)
Cedar Rapids Jefferson’s 6-foot-3 shooting guard Kane Kramer just wrapped up his senior season, and it was one he and his teammates can hang their hat on.
Kramer led all of 4A in 3s made during the regular season, hitting 75 of them, and most impressive, connecting at a 45 percent clip.
Since it became clear that he was one of 2017s best shooters, colleges have been after the sharpshooting prospect.
“I’m planning to play college basketball next year. I’m currently getting recruited by Coe College, Iowa Central and Mount Mercy University, and that’s about it,” he said.
“It’s (recruitment) basically just started since my senior season started. They’ve been to a couple of my games, and they contact me quite frequently.”
Whether it’s JuCo, NAIA or Division III, Kramer says it’s all about the right fit.
“The level I play at really doesn’t matter to me,” said Kramer. “It’s always just been a dream of mine to play college basketball.”
A precise shooter with some decent height, Kramer — Iowa’s 72nd-ranked 2017 — is the type of player who can come in a make an immediate impact with a program.
“Obviously, my greatest asset that I bring to the team is catching and shooting. I’m probably best from the corners and in transition, and I’ve really stepped-up my mid-range game since defenders are closing out on me harder,” said Kramer, who commented on being Iowa’s 4A 3-point leader.
“I’ve always been a pretty good shooter, and I’ve been working on it for as long as I can remember with my brothers in the gym. And my last two years I hadn’t really shot it as well as I had hoped.”
He added: “So over the summer I just kept working on it, and I thought this year I’d make a lot. And my coach told me that if I kept working on it, my percentage would go up, and I’d be one of the top shooters in the state.”
