NCHSAA East Regional Standouts
Last week the NCHSAA East regionals took place on the campuses of Fayetteville State and Methodist University, throughout the day there was a good amount of talent on the floor and listed below are some of the players that stood out to me:
Northside HS 2017 Zach Hobbs: Northside got out to a big time lead and Zach was a huge reason why, he knocked down five treys in the first half to get his squad going.
Greene Central 2019 Imajae Dodd: This young man has scary potential, even though he didn’t have a great shooting night from the field he was very productive. He put together a double/double getting a high amount of rebounds to go along with double figure scoring.
Northside 2018 Kenny Dye: Remember this young man’s name folks, he will be a player that colleges will be stopping in to see next year without a doubt. At 6 foot with a long wingspan and a nice IQ for the game he fits the mold for a PG for a high amount of college programs.
Leesville Road 2019 Jalen Benjamin: You have to love the IQ of this young man, he has a natural gift to play and doesn’t try to do anything that is outside his comfort zone. Without a doubt he was one of the best ball handlers that we saw throughout the day, he kept defenders guessing and go to wherever he wanted.
South Central 2019 Luke Davis: At 6’7 with solid fundamentals this young man will get your attention immediately, he won’t wow you with outstanding athletic ability but you will fall in love with his potential. He can face up and shoot the midrange shot but also bang inside with his back to the basket, one to definitely keep an eye on.
South Central 2020 Dayron Sharpe: Still raw but he’s young with a high amount of potential, has a very high motor and blocks shots at a high rate. Once he adds to his game offensively he will be one that colleges will be monitoring closely, but go ahead and put him on your radar coaches, he’s a 6’8 frosh.
