Juwan Blanton to Lees-McRae
Almost a week ago, Lees-McRae secured one the of the top unsigned point guards in North Carolina as they got a commitment from Quay Kimble of Shelby High School. This afternoon, “Dunk Mountain” as they like to call themselves, secured a commitment from Shelby High School rival East Rutherford High School and Juwan Blanton.
Juwan BlantonBlanton is one of the better shooting guards that I have seen this season and has good size at 6-foot-1 for the position. He helped lead East Rutherford to a 29-1 overall record on the season with their lone loss coming at the hands of Forest Hills High School. Blanton averaged 13.5 points per game this season to go along with three assists and one steal. He is able to score off the dribble, he can knock down the shot either spotting up or off the screen. He has a good bit of athleticism in his game and can attack the rim.
“They were more active with me in my decision, they always checked on me and they always made sure that this was the decision I wanted to make. Plus I wanted to hoop with my bro Quay Kimble,” Blanton states.
Lees-McRae does a great job of recruiting North Carolina talent. Of the 16 players on the roster, 11 hail from North Carolina. With the addition of Blanton and Kimble, “Dunk Mountain” should compete at the highest level of Division Two.
