Blue & White All-Star Game Practice Notes
The 65th annual Blue & White All-Star Game will be held on March 18 at Enka High School. This game for seniors in Western North Carolina Showcases the best in the area for one night that includes a dunk contest and a three-point shootout. I had the privilege to watch the Blue All-Stars, who are coached by TC Roberson High School Head Coach Adam Ballard practice last night. Here are some of the notes from the practice.
TC Roberson senior Davis Phillips is a solid DII prospect. Impressed with athletic ability, good defender and a solid rebounder. He is getting interest from Brevard College, Anderson University and Catawba Valley CC.
Lees-McRae is getting a good one in Juwan Blanton. Solid at the guard position, doesn’t make mistakes, knows where to put the basketball.
Alex Wallace of TC Roberson HS is a skilled guard that can finish at the basket, really good in transition and change of direction.
Brian Bartlett of Owen HS is a scorer. Has a good handle and can play well above the rim. Would make a solid D2 player.
Really like Mathew Brown’s game. The Owen HS senior is long, athletic, knows how to score, and grabs a ton of rebounds
Malik Hamrick of East Rutherford HS is a nice guard prospect. Jumps with ease, quick off the dribble, good finisher and attacks the basket.
Really impressed with David Elkins of North Buncombe first time I saw him. Even more tonight. Very athletic guard that threw down big dunks.
Unsigned Larry Douglas of Chase HS is a big framed, athletic wing that can score from all over the floor. Strong finisher.
Owen senior big man Mathew BrownTanner Dillingham of McDowell HS is 6’7, and is long. Can finish at the rim and has a nice mid-range game with the ability to score against bigger opponents. Dillingham has a nice handle and can get rebounds.
Max Hurst of Reynolds HS is a solid defender that knows his role. He made a handful of mid-range jumpers and does the little things to make up for what he may lack in athleticism.
