And there will be a JuCo that is very lucky to get him for a one or two year stint before he undoubtedly heads to a Division I program.
“Just during the season I’ve had more JuCo coaches talk to me, and I’ve talked to some pretty good ones,” said Wilson, who mentioned Iowa Western, DMACC, Southwestern, Indian Hills, and Kirkwood as interested programs
“I visited Southwestern, and my top three right now would have to be Southwestern, DMACC and Kirkwood.”
A 6-foot-6 power forward with an uncanny ability to snare rebounds and finish around the rim, Wilson mentioned the goal after JuCo.
“I want to play at the Division I level, but I don’t know exactly where I want to go,” said Wilson. “I think I could play, If I had to pick right now, at a mid-major.”
A three year starter for Hoover, Wilson defined what his role has been this season with the surging Huskies.
“I’ve been taking the leadership role, and helping coach up some of our younger guys. And I’ve had to score more,” said Wilson, who leads 4A in rebounding, averaging 14.1 per game.
“It’s (rebounding) always something that I chose to do because I wasn’t really good at anything else when I was younger. So I always tried to just go up and get the ball and get another possession for my team.”
As his career continues to unfold, the already dominant post player will continue to diversity his game.
“College coaches, they want me to play on the perimeter more,” said Wilson. “And I think my handles have gotten better, and I’ve been focusing on that a lot.”
