Right now, Skinner’s sole focus is on helping his team get by Des Moines Hoover in tonight’s substate final. But he’ll make a college decision shortly after the Tigers’ season ends.
He mentioned there is one Wisconsin Division III that has captured his attention the most.
“It (recruitment) is something I’ve definitely thought about. I’m talking a lot with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and I really like it up there. And I’ve heard from a lot of the Iowa Conference schools,” Skinner said.
If is does not work out that he plays up in Wisconsin for the Eagles, then he says he’ll likely end up at a bigger Iowa school just to study.
“I’m really thinking about going to La Crosse in Wisconsin, and if that doesn’t work out, I’ll probably go to UNI and be a student. But I’ll think about that more when our season is over,” said Skinner.
“I’m still thinking about my college decision, but I’m just worried right now about being the best teammate I can be and getting it done for my high school team.”
As a senior with the defending champion Tigers, Skinner has been excellent; averaging 9.8 points, shooting 41 percent from deep while swiping a team-best 27 steals.
“I just like to do all the little things to help our team get wins, and making shots and just always being ready to shoot. But mostly doing the little things, like things that don’t show up in the stat-sheet, to help our team out,” said Skinner.
“I’m just looking to be a leader and make plays if I need to for our team. But mainly just being a leader because this is our last go-round, and we’ve come together really well as a group.”
