Washington’s 73rd-ranked 2017, Lily has seen very little interest come his way from college coaches. That lack of recruitment has him thinking prep school could be his best option.
“I was thinking about going to prep school if I didn’t have anyone interested in me. Right now I have zero offers, and no interest that I know of,” said Lily.
“I feel like a prep school would be nice for player development, because I would like to get bigger, faster, stronger and work on my game a little bit more before I go play bigger guys in college.”
Lily’s goals, despite his lack of current recruitment, remain lofty.
“My goal after prep school is to play somewhere in the PAC 12,” he said.
A quick and shifty lead guard, Lily mentioned to PHWA his strengths as a player, and what he’s continuing to try and improve.
“One of my strengths is my ability to push the ball and my handle; I like to keep the defender guessing. And my ability to distribute once I make my move really gets my guys open,” he said.
“I think what I need to focus on is shooting with a defender in my face. I can knock in an open shot, but shooting when defenders are closing me out would increase my percentage a lot. I just need to focus on making those shots and I feel like my game would be complete.”
He comes in off the bench for the Bulldogs, playing behind two of the state’s top guards, Daejon Davis and Jaylen Nowell, respectively.
“I feel like when I come in I give the team an instant spark, on offense and defense,” said Lily.
“They just need me to do whatever I can to help the team win, like sacrifice my body and things like that. We do have big-name guys, so I never have to force anything, but just to play a supporting role off the bench.”
