Recruiting Report: Alex Heath (2018)

Cleveland Central Catholic’s impressive regular season has earned them the #3 seed in the Stow District for the Division II playoffs. While they’ll have a challenging road to Columbus, <strong>Alex Heath</strong> (2018) is confident they can put it all together. “If we just continue to work on our game and come together, it’s going to be a scary sight. I feel like we’re going to be in Columbus, holding up the States trophy,” Heath said. They seemingly have the talent, including Heath. At 5’8”, Heath is just one of many talented guards on the roster. <h3>New Situation</h3> <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-139196" src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/3431649_orig-300x300.jpg" alt="3431649_orig" width="300" height="300" />Last season, Heath played for Lutheran East on the other side of town. However, when Heath’s family decided to move over the summer, Heath decided it was time for a new school. “I transferred for a couple reasons. The main reason is because I moved. It was hard for me to get to Lutheran East from where I stay,” Heath said. “The second reason was like, it was a school where I got away with a lot of things I shouldn’t … I wasn’t really focused on my work, my grades. So, I made the decision as a growing young man,” Heath said. Since then, Heath has raised his grade point average. Even though he said Central Catholic is tougher in the classroom, he has a 3.0 during his junior year. <h3>Playing Style</h3> This season, Heath has also adjusted to a new role. As he put it, Heath is now “a true point guard.” “Not going to lie, it was a tough transition going from averaging 20-plus to averaging 10 and 10. But it’s helped me get ready for the next level,” Heath said. On the offensive side, Heath has plenty of guys he can dish it off to. Also, it helps that he’s an excellent passer, especially on the drive. Furthermore, he really affects the game on the other side. At 5’8”, one of the way he compensates for that height disadvantage is by applying pressure. Everything he does on the court comes back to one objective: winning. “I’m an emotional, fast-paced playing point guard. I feel like, everyone can tell I love the game when I’m on the court … I hate losing, so I’m here to win,” Heath said. Heath said he’d like to gain confidence and become more coachable going forward. &nbsp; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhlAN06OIX0 <h3>Recruitment</h3> Heath earned his first offer over the summer from West Virginia State. However, he’s likely to gain a few more and already has other programs inquiring. “After I got the offer from West Virginia State, I got highly recruited from Maryland Eastern Shore,” Heath said. Being that his Central Catholic teammate, Miryne Thomas, has committed to Maryland Eastern Shore, Heath has mutual interest with the program. Also, Farimont State (WV) and Niagra (NY) have expressed interest, according to his high school coach. Heath is looking to find the right fit, and a program that will continue developing him.
