At Garfield he didn’t play any varsity, but once he transferred to Lindbergh to become a legitimate starter. As a starter he displayed good shooting ability from the three point line and proved he was an excellent ball handler.
As a defender, he excels fighting off screens to stay with his opponent often. His defense leads to a lot of his offense in transition but he can also dish the ball if he has to.
“I think my shooting, making plays for my teammates and my defense are the biggest positive things in my game,” Eshete said.
One thing that Eshete wants to improve on is his decision making. He said that sometimes he gets a little loose with the ball and wants to work on ball security as well.
Eshete is definitely interested in playing basketball at the next level. He currently has heard from Lawrence University in Wisconsin and also Edmonds Community College. Even though he hasn’t received any offers yet he is hoping that will change after AAU season.
In his lone season at Lindbergh, Eshete competed in the 2A South Puget Sound League. He compared it to the Metro League.
“The leagues have there differences, but the SPSL is still very fast and intense,” Eshete said.
Eshete and the Lindbergh squad have their first state game February 25 against Kingston. He is hoping to end his career with a bang.
“I got a few games left in my high school career and I’m going to play each game like it’s my last,” Eshete said. “I hope to win that State Championship and impress some coaches on the way!”
During the regular season he averaged 8.2 points, four assists, three rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
