Continue ReadingOne of the most promising point guard prospects in North Carolina, Blake Harris is averaging 26.7 points and 10.3 assists per game this season at Word of God Christian Academy. He has helped lead The Holy Rams to a 20-4 overall record so far. He is the front-runner at this point in the season for the PrepHoopsNC Mr. Basketball award. He follows in the long list of great guards out of Word of God Academy, including John Wall, Jalen Harris and Dezmine Wells.
Harris committed to Lorenzo Romar and The Washington Huskies in mid-July. Harris stated, “The coaching staff is great. I couldn’t ask for anything more.” According to Harris, Romar wants him to come in and play his game and be a leader when he steps on campus. He tells PrepHoopsNC he will arrive on campus in June to begin his college basketball career.
Harris is a walking assist. He is averaging over 10 assists per game for Word of God. The Washington Huskies are averaging right under 15 assists per game. Washington is also home to one of the best freshman and the likely #1 pick in June’s NBA Draft, Markelle Fultz. Harris is expected to come in and provide some scoring with the departure of Fultz.
Harris is a wizard with the ball in his hands and can see the floor as well as anyone at his position. His average of nearly 10 assists per game is a testament to that stat. He is a scoring guard that can make baskets from all positions on the floor. He has good size at 6-foot-2 for the point guard position. He is a fairly quick guard who can get the ball moving in transition and has the ability to make the mid-range jump-shot.
For Harris the future is bright for another basketball player that calls North Carolina home.
