With the playoffs less than two weeks away, coaches are making sure that their teams are playing the best basketball that they can. A win could mean everything from a conference championship to a better seed for the playoffs. Here are some of the better match-ups for week 11 of high school basketball:
#6 Mason (14-2, 10-2) at Lakota East (12-6, 8-4), Tuesday 7:30pm: Both teams are coming off of 1-1 weeks with both teams losing to 10th ranked Princeton last week. Mason must win this game in order to still claim at least a share of the conference title. After losing a game on Friday in which they we were never a threat, Lakota East needs a victory in order to regain the momentum that they had during most of January in which they were 7-2. Senior Evan Kuhlman must shoot better than the 6-18 he put up against the Vikings Friday if East wants to walk away with the home victory.
Prediction: Mason
Withrow (11-7, 6-5) at Woodward (12-7, 4-4), Tuesday 7:30pm: One of the oldest and best rivalries in Cincinnati high school sports. While it may not have the luster of yesteryear, this is still a high quality matchup of two teams going in opposite directions. Woodward has a 4-5 record over the last month and could use a victory heading into the playoffs. Do not forgot Woodward was a top 10 team to start the season. Withrow on the other hand has won five in a row and are looking like the team many thought they would be in the preseason. Look for the Blue Palace to be rocking on Tuesday night.
Prediction: Woodward
#5 Oak Hills (15-3, 11-1) at #10 Princeton (11-7, 7-5), Friday 7:30pm: Princeton has won 5 of their last 6 and seem to be playing their best basketball at the right time. The Vikings look to keep their momentum going against an Oak Hills that is still battling Mason for the GMC conference title. This will be a good test for both teams to see where they are before the playoffs begin.
Prediction: Oak Hills
