MVP: Quay Kimble– The unsigned senior scored 32 points on the night from all spots on the floor. He has recently been hearing from Liberty University, Newberry College and Lincoln-Memorial University.
Under Recruited: Cavious Hamilton– The unsigned senior knows how to score the basketball and shuld be a good player for a Division II school. Coaches should take a look.
Interesting Fact: Shelby High School head coach Aubrey Hollifield played college football at Wake Forest in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Offensive MVP: Quay Kimble– Kimble was doing it all for Shelby HS tonight, he came up with some big assists and was scoring the ball at will. He is the engine that runs the Golden Lion train.
Defensive MVP: Dax Hollifield– The big-time football recruit is a rebounding machine. He grabbed rebound after rebound. He was recently offered football scholarships from LSU and Alabama.
Crest HS MVP: Cavious Hamilton-The 6-foot senior guard is averaging 14 points per game and scored 16 tonight for the Chargers. A three-point basket by Hamilton pulled Crest within 12 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. He has the ability to score from the perimeter and can attack the lane and put up points off the dribble.
Moving Forward: The win moves Shelby HS to 19-4 and 13-3 in the SMAC, good enough for #2 in the conference tournament which begins next week.
Best Sophomore: DeQuan George- The forward for Shelby, is close to being a really good player. I was impressed with his skill set. Has long arms, that caused changes in shot selections for Crest.
Key to the Game: In the third quarter, Shelby HS took advantage of Crest HS’s seven turnovers and it proved to be too much for the Chargers to come back from. Hitting the boards by Shelby in the period was also too much for Crest.
Best Passer: Quay Kimble- Had a barrage of assists that he made look easy. Always has his eyes up with the ball in his hands and finds the right player to distriubte the ball to.
