Washington Player of the Week (1/2-1/7)
Michael Porter Jr. (Nathan Hale)
Porter has consistently backed up his Prep Hoops 2017 number one ranking this season, and he didn’t disappoint this week. The University of Washington commit scored 52 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (in only three quarters) to help the Raiders beat O’Dea. He didn’t stop there and scored another 37 points, and secured 16 boards in a win against Eastside Catholic.
Jordan Garner (Spanaway Lake)
Even though his team lost against Lincoln, Garner went off for 33 points and 10 rebounds to be named Player of the Week for his team. The junior, shot 53 percent from inside the the three and 44 percent from the three point line.
Daeshawn Waynes (Lakes)
Waynes played two games this week and didn’t disappoint. The sophomore guard filled up the box score in a loss to Stadium. He scored 36 points, grabbed 10 boards, dished out five assists, had five steals and a block. Against Bonney Lake Waynes scored 19 points, added three rebounds, passed for three assists and again had four steals.
Brock Mackenzie (Eastside Catholic)
In a win against Chief Sealth, Mackenzie scored 19 points, secured four boards, added two assists and also had three steals. Even though his team lost to Nathan Hale later in the week, he still scored 23 points.
Ryan Moffet (Odessa/Harrington)
The freshman guard has been flying under the radar this season, and just this week he dropped 47 points, had four boards and four steals. He’s averaging 29 points per game, and will look to improve his numbers as the season continues.
