Game MVP –Greenfield School 2018 Guard Coby White: Coby put on an absolute show on Thursday night, finishing with 37 Points against a very talented Trinity Squad. Although different defenders and schemes were thrown at him he showed a very IQ for the game and found ways to still get his shot off. Don’t let the scoring foul you, he’s a very willing passer and has the skills to put the ball right on point for his teammates to score easily.
Best Shooter- Trinity Christian 2019 Guard Josh Nickelberry: In the words of Mark Jackson, Hand down, Man down is the best way to describe the performance that Josh put together on Friday night. In the 1st half he was on fire from deep, then caught fire once again in the 4th quarter finishing with 12 in the quarter. He has a super smooth shooting stroke and is getting better each game on the defensive end, he finished the game with 28 Points.
Best PG– Trinity Christian 2019 Guard Talton Jones: Talton did an outstanding job of getting his entire team involved, he saw the floor very well and put on point passes to teammates throughout the game. Not only did he facilitate well but he scored the ball a solid rate, finishing with 11 points.
Strongest Player– Greenfield School 2017 Forward Dorian Suggs: Dorian is a very strong player that has the skills to step out on the perimeter but bang inside as well. One player in particular that impressed me was when he grabbed a rebound against another big, took the ball the full length of the court and finished with a layup after a smooth move around the defense. Dorian would finish with 13 Points on the night, he is receiving interest from various D2 schools.
Best Defensive Performance– Trinity Christian 2019 Forward Greg Gantt: Greg didn’t have his best game offensively but he was outstanding on the defensive end of the floor. In the 4th quarter he picked up Coby White on several defensive possessions and did a very good job of making things difficult, the sky is the limit for this young man.
Beast in the Paint Award- Trinity Christian 2019 Joey Baker: Joey is known as a player that can step out and shoot the trey ball but in this game in particular he did his work inside the paint. He scored the ball well inside and did a great job of drawing fouls, as well as finishing through the physical contact. He had a solid showing throughout and finished the game with 19 Points.
