Hogan Prep (Mo.) v. Basehor-Linwood (Kan.)
Liberty North (Mo.) v. Hayden (Kan.)
Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.) v. Olathe East (Kan.)
Park Hill South (Mo.) v. Blue Valley North (Kan.)
Lee’s Summit North (Mo.) v. Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.)
Lafayette (Mo.) v. Bishop Miege (Kan.)
Francesco Badocchi, 6’7, 2017, Bishop Miege (Kan.)
He and 2019 Jeremiah Robinson-Earl form one of the best 1-2 punches in the paint that you’ll see in the KC area. He’s an athletic freak that is capable of wowing with his quick leaping and ability to throw down slams in the paint. He’s also capable of stepping away from the basket and showing some perimeter skills.
Parker Braun, 6’8, 2018, Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.)
I’ll be honest, Braun has as much upside as any young big man in the KC area and he showed why on Saturday. He showed it all — blocking shots in the paint, throwing down dunks, showing a smooth looking 3-point shot and even took it strong to the basket off the bounce. His biggest weakness right now is strength, but he has a lot of tools.
Tyson Cathy, 6’5, 2018, Liberty North (Mo.)
This kid doesn’t get a lot of run in the local press, but he’s an impact player at the defensive end. He challenges shots, gets on the boards and plays really hard. He has the ability to make an impact in the game, but doesn’t necessarily need the ball to do so.
Jacob Clark, 6’5, 2019, Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.)
He’s a riser in our future 2019 rankings, he’s strong, athletic and tough with a willingness to scrap in the paint against bigger players.
Elijah Farr, 6’7, 2018, Liberty North (Mo.)
Farr is one of the better big men in the KC area in what is a tremendous big man class. He is big, strong and athletic and can really stretch the floor. He made two 3-pointers against Blue Valley Northwest and gave the Huskies’ front line a battle in the paint.
Joe Pleasant, 6’6, 2018, Blue Valley Northwest (Kan.)
He’s a strong interior player with a well-rounded skill set and came alive on Saturday in the second half, scoring several tough baskets.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, 6’8, 2019, Bishop Miege (Kan.)
This wasn’t really a fair fight against Lafayette, who really didn’t have a big man to throw at Robinson-Earl. He continues to show terrific footwork in the paint and the ability to get on the boards at both ends of the court.
Ben Schneider, 6’9, 2018, Basehor-Linwood (Kan.)
Schneider came off the bench and provided an inside presence against an undersized Hogan Prep squad. He is a legit 6’9 with the size and potential to be an impact player in the future.
Kian Scroggins, 6’5, 2020, Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.)
We really liked this kid’s game. He’s a big, strong, wide body in the post that takes up a lot of space and has nice hands and a soft touch. He also has a feel for scoring in the paint and walling up opponents at the defensive end. He’s one of the better young big men in the KC area.
Preston Shanahan, 6’10, 2018, Blue Valley North (Kan.)
Just like Schneider of Basehor-Linwood, he also came off the bench for Blue Valley North. Shanahan is an active, agile big man that runs the floor well and has some upside.
