The 6-foot-3 senior is averaging 16.8 points, 6.4 assists, 3.1 steals and 6.2 rebounds per game.
He’s received one part-scholarship from an area NAIA program, and has several Division III programs courting him as well.
“Right now I just have a little bit of an offer from Briar Cliff University, and a lot of the other schools that are looking at me are D3 schools; like Coe, Wartburg and Simpson,” said LeGrand, who visited Briar Cliff in November.
“It was a very nice school, and I really like the winning tradition they have going with their program. I think they got to the Elite 8 last year in the NAIA, which was really cool to see. They know what they’re doing, and I feel like I’d fit in really well there.”
He mentioned to PHIA what he’ll be looking for when making a college decision.
“It’s just going to come down to where I fit in best,” said LeGrand. “And where I see myself becoming the best player that I can be.”
A do-it-all point guard with some very decent size, LeGrand mentioned what his strengths are as a player.
“I would say my strengths are probably just ball-handling and passing, and just helping my teammates get open. I like to help my teammates get better around me. And something of late that I’ve really improved on is rebounding, I’ve been up in double-digits a couple games this season,” said LeGrand.
“I think experience kind of has a little bit to do with [my success]; kind of just being able to know the flow of the game, and just being able to adjust to how the refs are officiating the game and stuff like that.”
With his senior season winding down, and visits to Briar Cliff, Wartburg and Simpson already under his belt, LeGrand says he’s nearing a decision.
He just has one more campus visit to make.
“I’m hoping by the end of February have made a decision,” said LeGrand. “I’m heading down to Coe on February 4th, and after I take that in, I’ll weight my options and talk about it with my family and make my decision.”
