After a year as the starting point guard for the Trojans, Robertson is sitting out his sophomore season because of corrective knee surgery.
A surgery that will repair a defect in his knee, and see him come back faster and more agile than before.
“It wasn’t really an injury, I was born with a birth defect in my knee, and they had to go fix it. I’ve been just playing through it up to now,” said Robertson, who will be back in action for his 16U season with Louisiana Elite.
“I’m going to be 120 percent when I get back. I’m going to be way better. My knee was stopping me from jumping and moving really fast, it was holding back my speed and agility.”
When back on the floor, coaches and opponents can expect to see a sharp-shooting point-guard, who is a floor general.
“My strengths are my shooting ability. I’m able to shoot the 3 and pull-up, and I can drive a little bit and handle the ball. And I can also make defensive stops,” said Robertson.
“I’m comfortable playing the point-guard mostly. I like handling the ball and being the floor general. I need to work on my speed and my lateral quickness – I’m not really as quick as some other guards right now.”
Despite playing just one season of varsity ball, and sitting this one out, Robertson already has one Division I offer from a local program, and plenty of other interest.
“I got an offer from Nicholls State, and I have interest from New Orleans, McNeese State called me and Northwestern State sends me letters. Louisiana-Lafayette sends me letters and I went to the their elite camp,” said Robertson.
“I think about recruitment a lot. I want to go to a Division I school, and I think about that a lot. I believe in myself, that I’m going to get higher and bigger offers after I’m recovered from surgery.”
