An athletic 6’5, 185-pound 2017 wing player, Van Dyne is a standout wide receiver on the football field and hauled in 67 passes for 1,096 yards and 12 touchdowns. On the hardwood, Van Dyne can shoot, drive, live in the post and can play above the rim and make spectacular plays as well.
He says he spent the offseason becoming more confident in his abilities and focused on having fun playing with friends.
“I played on a team with a few kids from in the area and a couple on my team,” he said.
Blue Valley is off to a 7-3 start this season, primarily plays seven guys and has five who all average at least 10 points per game.
“It is definitely a non-selfish team,” Van Dyne said. “We’re 7-3 looking to make a big run in the second half of the season.
“I’m looking forward to just finishing he year strong and not overlooking any game.”
A fan of Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook, Van Dyne said his dad and coach Williams have been the biggest influence on his basketball career.
“They both teach me the ins and outs of the game to make me a better player,” he said. “(I like) Russell Westbrook because of his intensity. I think it would be hard for anyone to match how hard he plays the game.”
