The three offers are from low-major Division programs, and there’s a couple other programs still in the mix which have not offered.
“I’ve been receiving high interest from Northwestern State, Lafayette and Southern Illinois. Southern (LA) offered me, Lamar offered me and Nicholls State,” said Dennis.
The Baker prospect has not taken any official visits yet, nor has he taken any unofficials. But he was able to mention one school that stands out to him.
“I would say Nicholls State peaks my interest a lot just because of their coaching staff and how they approach me,” he said. “So I could see myself at Nicholls State.”
A versatile threat, Dennis predicates his game of being a slasher, but can be a playmaker in more ways than just getting to to the hoop.
“I consider one of my strengths as being able to get to the rim. And I wouldn’t say I’m an elite shooter, but I can make shots,” said Dennis. “Being an inside-outside threat is what I pride myself on, and being a two-way player on offense and defense.”
After spending the first three seasons of his high school career at Southern Lab, Dennis — Louisiana’s 17th-ranked 2017 — decided to spend his final season at Baker.
“The style of play is a lot different from Lab, we pay a lot faster and do a lot more so I’m enjoying it,” said Dennis.
“My new coach, he needs me to do a little bit of everything; I’m the top man on the press, he needs me to score, rebound, defend. He pretty much has me doing everything.”
Some personal goals for his senior season?
“I’d like to get Gatorade Player of the Year,” said Dennis. “But if I didn’t, it wouldn’t really matter because my main goal is to just get a state championship, and then to go to college for free and play ball.”
