Washington’s 80th-ranked 2018, Foss point guard Demetrius Crosby currently is seeing more recruitment come his way for his football prowess than basketball.
Crosby, though, is a standout in both sports, and says his goal is to play both at the next level.
No recruitment has come in yet for basketball for the 6-foot-1 junior, maybe partly because he does not play AAU ball in the summer. Instead, he focuses on football during his offseasons
“During AAU season I just train for football because I’m pretty good at football too,” said Crosby. “I don’t know which I want to play in college…but I think I want to play both the be honest, that’s my goal.”
The free safety and wide receiver has seen interest come in from Washington, Eastern Washington, Portland State and Boise State for his prowess on the gridiron, but hopes to see some hoops interest come his way soon.
“I do hope my recruitment picks up for basketball because I love basketball too, and I just feel like I’m under-recruited for basketball,” said Crosby.
In the meantime, he is now halfway into his junior season at Foss.
“They expect me to score, and to help my teammates,” he said. “My personal goal is to just be my best every night. And I’d like to be first-team all league, because last season I got honorable mention.”
As his junior season wears on, Crosby says he’ll continue to be the Falcons’ floor general, controlling tempo, and he’ll continue to push himself to get better.
“My strength is basically attacking and setting up my teammates for open layups and stuff like that. I excel at ball-handling and controlling tempo. And defense is a strength of mine too,” said Crosby.
“I need to get better at shooting, and shooting it more consistently.”
