A 6-foot-4 forward, Lincoln junior Anthony Braggs is capable of playing on the perimeter, but has spent most of his career playing down low.
But as he continues to evolve on the perimeter, he’s hoping to develop into a player that can work more from the outside-in.
“My coaches are really trying to get me out on the wing, but because I’m one of the tallest guys on my team I play a lot in the post too. I’m really athletic and I can do all the dirty work like rebound and play a little scrappy,” said Braggs.
“I really need to improve on my handles, I’m not going to be a big-man when I get to college so I’ve been working a lot on my mid-range shot, and 3-pointers.”
With still plenty of time for his recruitment to materialize, Braggs is yet to see any serious recruitment come his way.
“I’ve gotten invited to camps from Seattle U, Oregon State and a couple invites to some Elite 80 camps; but that’s really it so far, no real interest or anything,” said Braggs, who feels a bit overlooked up to this point of his career.
“I kind of feel like I’m under the radar a little bit, so I’ve just been working. I’m just hoping that everything just goes really well for me with the recruiting process, and I hope that one school just picks me up, any school really.”
In the meantime, he and his Abes are off to a hot start this season, and Braggs’ role is to be the team’s leader.
“Last year we had a lot of guards, so they really wanted me to play down low and do the dirty work. This year is kind of the same way, but they want me to be more of a leader and get my teammates involved and make sure everyone is ready to go for the game,” he said.
“This year I just need to be more of a leader than a follower, really.”
