Continue ReadingAnybody in Minnesota knows that the term “Under the Radar” is about as overused a word that’s used to describe basketball in this state. One true under the radar guy is Lake Park-Audubon wing Mitch Hall who put up a double-double last season.
As a junior Hall put up 15 points and 11 rebounds a game helping get the Raiders to the state tournament. His is 6-2 so far this year and will be a favorite to play at state once again.
“Mitchell has played well,” said Coach Kyle Haberman. “Teams have tried to pressure us so he has been put into our PG role, which is not where I’d like to play him, but he is so good at controlling the game I have to.
“He is averaging 14 points, six assists, and rebounds a game. His numbers would be much different if teams played us straight up. Teams have left my worst two players to face guard Mitch and double Jess and because of that those unguarded players are getting points and a lot of assists. He has been great and will really do well as we have made some offensive adjustments over the break.”
Hall is a player that Coach Haberman is very proud of because he is hard working, versatile, and a hard working student athlete.
“Mitch has been our rock for three years now. He has had to play like Lebron because that’s what we need from him in order to win. If he was given the green light like many players in our area, he would average high 20’s in points.
“He wants to win though. Whatever college takes a chance on him is going to get a diamond. I would love to see him on a team where his skill set could really be utilized. He is a special kid and I couldn’t be more proud of him.”
A couple programs have called on Hall and Haberman feels there will be more.
“Mitch has received interest from some smaller schools, including Bemidji State and Minnesota Morris. I will say this again, whatever school takes a chance on him will get a gem.
“He just hasn’t had the bulky stats because that’s not how we win games. When we needed him against Hillcrest Lutheran Academy last year, he had 26 points and 13 rebounds. The game before in the quarter finals he had 24 points and 9 rebounds.”
So Mitch Hall handles the ball, runs the offense, is the top perimeter shooting and slashing option, gets Jesse Bergh the ball for his 28 points a game, plus Mitch rebounds, and is a high character guy!
Sounds like a player to check out soon.
