The senior guard is averaging 26.7 points and 9.3 assists per game this season while helping lead The Holy Rams to a 13-4 overall record so far. He is the front-runner at this point in the season for the PrepHoopsNC Mr. Basketball award. He follows in the long list of great guards out of Word of God Academy, including John Wall, Jalen Harris and Dezmine Wells.
Keys to the Game
Harris is a wizard with the ball in his hands and can see the floor as well as anyone at his position. His average of nearly 10 assists per game is a testament to that stat. He is a scoring guard that can make baskets from all positions on the floor. He has good size at 6-foot-2 for the point guard position. He is a fairly quick guard who can get the ball moving in transition and has the ability to make the mid-range jump-shot.
Runs in the Family
The college and pro sports gene runs deep for Harris, his dad Bernardo played college football at North Carolina before playing 10 years in the NFL for The Green Bay Packers and The Baltimore Ravens. He won a Super Bowl with Green Bay in the 1996 and 1997 NFL playoffs.
Choosing Washington Huskies
Harris chose Lorenzo Romar and The Washington Huskies over a list of offers from Miami, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Memphis, Florida State, Iowa State, LSU, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, Georgia Tech, and others. Romar has a history of developing players for great careers in the NBA. Nate Robinson, Terrence Ross, Brandon Roy, Isaiah Thomas and Tony Wroten are some of the players that Romar has developed.
