He had transferred in to Farmville Central to join an already talented team with multiple players that would go for an undefeated season and state Championship. Just recently we got the chance to talk to Tyler after a win over East Carteret in the Farmville MLK Day Tournament, he finished with 33 Points, 10 Rebounds and 6 Assist.
Q: You guys got a good win against a solid East Carteret, what’s something that you learned from this that you can use for the rest of the season?
Tyler Maye: Well coming in , you know we are a very young team, we have a freshman Point Guard and a couple of other young guys but we just need to get better defensively, it’s just a few things we need to work on when we get to practice.
Q: Last year you guys had 4 seniors that played major minutes and you were the youngest guy out there, did you learn about senior leadership from them?
Tyler Maye: Yes I did, they did a good job of passing things on to me and now I’m trying to pass it on to the guys on the team right now.
Q: Pre game, is there anything in particular you like to do?
Tyler Maye: Nah not really just listen to music, put my headphones in and listen to music.
Q: Any artist in particular?
Tyler Maye: Yea, NBA Youngboy, that’s my boy.
Q: What’s your recruitment been like lately?
Tyler Maye: I’ve been hearing from UNCW, Providence, Nebraska, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, and that’s about it.
Q: What do you feel you bring to a team on this level and to a college program?
Tyler Maye: I think just my effort, going from the start of the game to the end of the game, I just give 110% every time I step on the court.
Q: Favorite NBA Player?
Tyler Maye: Kobe but he retired, but KD now.
Q: Favorite NBA Team?
Tyler Maye: Lakers
Q: As far as a timetable for picking a school what does that look like for you? And what are some of the things you are looking for when picking a school?
Tyler Maye: Probably towards the end of the season, but the school I’m looking to go to would be a place where I can have an impact right away, and play a lot my freshman year.
